Quick answer

ado Daily Moisturiser is a lightweight, non-greasy gel-cream for ages 7–17, with glycerin, squalane and colloidal oatmeal. It's pH balanced, has no adult actives and costs ₹949 for 100 mL. It contains fragrance and its label doesn't say non-comedogenic. Parents in India also look at Teenilicious, Tikitoro, Tuco Kids and YPlayZ.

ado Daily Moisturiser is a lightweight, non-greasy gel-cream made for ages 7–17, with glycerin, squalane and oat kernel flour (colloidal oatmeal). It's pH balanced, has no retinoids, exfoliating acids or vitamin C, and costs ₹949 for a 100 mL tube. That matches what dermatologists suggest at this age: the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) advises parents to "stick with gentle cleansers, lightweight moisturizers, and broad-spectrum sunscreen."

ado is an Indian skincare brand made for kids, tweens and teens aged 7–17: a gentle oat face wash, a daily moisturiser and a zinc oxide SPF 50+ sunscreen, also sold together as the Tween's Kit. Below, we explain what's in ado's moisturiser and why parents choose it, what to look for in any child's moisturiser, and then list four other brands parents in India look at: Teenilicious, Tikitoro, Tuco Kids and YPlayZ.

Why do parents choose ado's moisturiser?

Parents choose ado's moisturiser for a light texture that suits Indian weather, ingredients that dermatologists list for young skin, and one tube that works from age 7 to 17. Here are the facts behind each point.

  1. Ingredients on the dermatologists' lists. The formula is built on glycerin and squalane, with dimethicone. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) lists squalane among moisturiser ingredients to look for in tweens and teens, and the AAD lists glycerin and dimethicone among ingredients that help relieve dry skin. It also contains oat kernel flour (colloidal oatmeal), finely ground oat that helps soothe dry skin.
  2. A lightweight gel-cream. The AAP suggests a gel for oily or acne-prone skin and a light cream for dry skin. ado's gel-cream sits between the two: light and non-greasy under sunscreen on a humid school day. In a dry North Indian winter, apply it while the skin is still damp after washing, as the AAD suggests for dry skin.
  3. pH balanced. Healthy skin is slightly acidic, with a pH of about 5.4 to 5.9, according to an Indian study in the Indian Journal of Dermatology. The moisturiser's label says it is pH balanced.
  4. No adult actives. There are no retinoids, exfoliating acids or vitamin C serums in the range. The AAD says those actives "can cause redness, burning, or peeling, and provide no benefit to such young skin", and the AAP lists expensive anti-ageing creams and serums with active ingredients among products tweens should skip.
  5. One moisturiser from 7 to 17. The whole ado range is made for ages 7 to 17, so a 9-year-old and a 15-year-old can use the same moisturiser. Of the other brands on this page, Tikitoro and YPlayZ make separate products for younger children and for tweens and teens, and the Tuco Kids face gel is labelled for ages 3 to 15 (checked 1 October 2026).
  6. A 100 mL tube. ado's moisturiser comes in a 100 mL tube. The kids' and teen face moisturisers listed below come in 50 g or 50 ml packs; the one larger product is YPlayZ's 300 ml face-and-body lotion for ages 4 to 10.
  7. A label you can read in full. The full ingredient list is on the product page, and every ingredient is explained on our ingredients page. The moisturiser is paraben-free and phthalate-free, and ado is made in India in a GMP- and ISO-certified facility and is cruelty-free.

Two honest notes. ado's products contain fragrance (it's the last ingredient on each label); if your child has eczema, very sensitive skin or reacts to fragrance, patch-test first or choose fragrance-free. And the moisturiser's label does not say non-comedogenic: ado's face wash and sunscreen are labelled that way, but this product isn't. If your child breaks out easily, introduce it on its own for a few weeks and see how their skin responds.

What's in the ado routine?

The moisturiser is step 2 of ado's three-step routine: cleanse, moisturise, protect. Each product comes in a 100 mL tube, and there's oat in every step.

  • Gentle Oat Face Wash (₹849, 100 mL). A soft-lather gel with coconut-derived cleansers and oat kernel extract. It's sulfate-free (including SLS-free), dye-free, paraben- and phthalate-free and non-comedogenic.
  • Daily Moisturiser (₹949, 100 mL). A lightweight, non-greasy gel-cream moisturiser (or moisturizer) with glycerin, squalane and oat kernel flour (colloidal oatmeal). It's pH balanced and helps skin hold on to moisture.
  • Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+ (₹1,499, 100 mL). Zinc oxide is the only UV filter, and it's labelled broad spectrum SPF 50+ (UVA/UVB). No PA rating is stated; it's labelled broad spectrum (UVA/UVB). It makes no water-resistance claim, so reapply at least every 2 hours and after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
  • Tween's Kit (₹2,699). All three products together, ₹598 less than buying them separately (₹3,297).

How the moisturiser fits into a school day:

  1. Morning: wash with the face wash, pat dry and smooth on a thin layer of moisturiser while the skin is still slightly damp. Finish with sunscreen as the last step, 15 minutes before leaving.
  2. After sport: if your child washes their face after PE or cricket practice, add a little moisturiser only if their skin feels tight, then reapply sunscreen before going back out.
  3. Evening: wash off the day's sunscreen, sweat and dust, then moisturise. The same moisturiser works at night; no separate night cream is needed.

What should a child's moisturiser have, and what should it skip?

A good moisturiser for a 7–17-year-old is light, simple and free of adult actives, and you can check all of that on the label. These six checks come from the AAD, the AAP, KidsHealth and the IJDVL; under each, we say where ado stands.

  1. A texture that matches the skin. The AAP suggests gel-based for oily or acne-prone skin and light creams for dry skin. ado's is a lightweight gel-cream.
  2. Hydrating ingredients, not a long list of extras. The AAP's look-for list includes hyaluronic acid, squalane, niacinamide, ceramides and panthenol; the AAD's dry-skin list includes glycerin, dimethicone, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil and shea butter. ado's moisturiser has glycerin, squalane and dimethicone.
  3. No adult actives or anti-ageing claims. A 2026 viewpoint in the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (IJDVL) calls active ingredients "entirely superfluous for pre-adolescent skin". ado's range has no retinoids, exfoliating acids or vitamin C serums.
  4. Not too heavy. The AAP lists heavy oils among moisturising products tweens and teens should skip. ado's moisturiser is labelled lightweight and non-greasy.
  5. Fragrance, checked on the label. The AAD says fragrance-free products are best because "added scents can trigger irritation or allergic reactions", and KidsHealth (Nemours) recommends a fragrance-free moisturizer. DermNet puts fragrance allergy at around 1.8% of children and adolescents. ado's moisturiser lists fragrance as its last ingredient, so see the patch-test advice above.
  6. Non-comedogenic, if pimples are starting. The AAP suggests a "lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer", and KidsHealth says teens who tend to get acne can try an oil-free moisturiser. ado's moisturiser is lightweight and non-greasy, but its label does not say non-comedogenic.

Whatever you choose, patch-test first. The AAD suggests applying a new product to a quarter-sized spot on the underside of the arm or the bend of the elbow "twice daily for seven to 10 days", and stopping if a reaction develops. For how to judge a brand's labels and claims, see our guide to choosing a trusted kids' skincare brand in India.

Does a child need moisturiser every day?

Most children aged 7–17 benefit from a light moisturiser after washing, and it becomes a daily step once they wash their face twice a day. KidsHealth says "most kids and teens need just three skin care products", and a moisturiser is one of them; the AAD explains that moisturising "helps relieve dryness and itchiness".

Ages 7–9

Younger children often need moisturiser mainly when skin feels dry: after a swim, in winter, or after washing off sunscreen at night. A thin layer is enough. Our hub on skincare for kids aged 7–9 covers the basics at this age.

Ages 10–12

As puberty brings more washing, a moisturiser morning and night keeps skin comfortable and goes on before sunscreen. See the hub on skincare for tweens (10–12) and the skincare routine for a 10-year-old.

Ages 13–17

Oily skin still needs moisture; the AAP's advice for oily or acne-prone skin is a gel-based texture, not skipping the step. Teens with regular breakouts should get a dermatologist's advice. See the hub on skincare for teens (13–17).

See a doctor if dry, itchy patches keep coming back, a moisturiser causes redness, burning or a rash that doesn't settle once you stop it, or pimples are leaving dark marks or haven't improved after a few months of gentle care (the AAD's advice).

What other kids' and teen moisturisers do parents in India look at?

Parents in India also look at Teenilicious, Tikitoro, Tuco Kids and YPlayZ. Here's what each makes, in alphabetical order, from the brands' own websites on 1 October 2026.

  1. Teenilicious: a teen skincare brand. Its Face Cream for Oily Skin is a lightweight cream at ₹325 for 50 g, and its page names niacinamide, ceramides, aloe vera and vitamin E as key ingredients. The page states no numeric age range.
  2. Tikitoro: separate Kids (4–10) and Teens (11–16) ranges. Its Kids Hydrating Face Cream and Teens Hydrating Face Cream are light gel-creams, each ₹475 for 50 g, and both list niacinamide, squalane and "allergen free fragrance" in their ingredients.
  3. Tuco Kids: one range for ages 3–15. Its Oat & Rice Water Face Gel lists oat kernel extract, rice water, aloe vera and fragrance, at ₹260 for 50 g.
  4. YPlayZ: ranges for ages 4–10 and 11–18. For younger children it sells a Face & Body Lotion for Kids (ages 4–10, ₹1,199 for 300 ml); for tweens and teens, an Acne Moisturiser (Clear Club), a gel that lists salicylic acid, at ₹849 for 50 ml. Both list fragrance.

Questions parents ask

What kind of moisturiser does a 10-year-old need?

A light one made for young skin, with no retinol, vitamin C or exfoliating acids. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests a gel for oily skin and a light cream for dry skin. Choose fragrance-free if your child has eczema or sensitive skin. ado Daily Moisturiser is a lightweight gel-cream made for ages 7 to 17; it contains fragrance (the last ingredient on the label), so patch-test first if your child's skin is sensitive.

Is ado's moisturiser non-comedogenic?

No, its label doesn't say non-comedogenic. ado's face wash and sunscreen carry that label; the moisturiser is a lightweight, non-greasy, pH-balanced gel-cream. If your child gets pimples easily, introduce it on its own for a few weeks and watch how their skin responds, and see a dermatologist for regular breakouts.

Does ado's moisturiser contain fragrance?

Yes. Fragrance is the last ingredient on the label, as it is on every ado product. If your child has eczema, very sensitive skin or reacts to fragrance, patch-test first or choose a fragrance-free option. The full ingredient list is on the product page.

Can a 7-year-old use ado Daily Moisturiser?

Yes. The whole ado range is made for ages 7 to 17, so a 7-year-old and a teenage sibling can use the same moisturiser. At 7, many children only need it when skin feels dry, for example in winter or after swimming. Patch-test first, as with any new product.

Is a gel-cream moisturiser okay in humid weather?

Yes. ado's moisturiser is a lightweight, non-greasy gel-cream, and the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests gel-based textures for oily or acne-prone skin. In monsoon humidity, a thin layer is enough before sunscreen.

Does my child need a separate night cream?

No. ado's routine uses the same moisturiser morning and night: after the face wash in the morning, before sunscreen, and after washing in the evening. The American Academy of Pediatrics lists expensive anti-ageing creams among products tweens and teens should skip.

What's in ado's Tween's Kit, and what does it cost?

The Tween's Kit has all three ado products in 100 mL tubes: the Gentle Oat Face Wash, the Daily Moisturiser and the Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+. It costs ₹2,699, which is ₹598 less than buying the three separately (₹3,297).
